Young Leaders Society

The United Way of West Alabama’s Young Leaders Society builds the next generation of community leaders by offering leadership roles in service projects and chances to serve on select partner agency boards and inspiring philanthropy and volunteerism among its members.

  • In 2022, YLS Executive Committee Members:
  • Volunteered with 21 non-profits and 5 PTSO/PTAs
  • Provided 1,200 Community Service Hours, saving organizations $35,940 in labor.
  • Served on 7 Partner Agency Boards of Directors

Individuals between the ages of 21-45 who are committed to improving education, health, and income stability in West Alabama and who pledge an annual United Way gift are encouraged to join YLS.

Young Leaders Society Presents the West Alabama Young Leaders Awards

Honorees are celebrated during the annual awards luncheon. Each honoree is presented with a trophy, has his/her name added to the WAYLA perpetual plaque, and most importantly, gets to select a local nonprofit to receive a $500 donation in his/her name.
