Volunteer Day of Action



United Way of West Alabama is sponsoring our 3rd annual volunteer Day of Action in support of children’s education! United Way is partnering with Adopt-A-School and the Literacy Council of West Alabama to sign up volunteers to read for 30 minutes to kindergarten through 5th grade classes in Tuscaloosa City Schools and Tuscaloosa County Schools during assigned reading blocks on Tuesday, March 2.

Please use this link to register online by February 19, and please share this opportunity with anyone you know who would like to volunteer. You will be notified prior to March 2 of your reading time and school location. Please contact Amanda Booth (amanda@uwwa.org) or Rusty Smith (rusty@uwwa.org) if you have any questions.

What are you doing on Saturday, June 21, 2008? June 21 is the longest day of the year. More daylight hours than any other. More time for volunteers to bring sun into someone’s life. More light to shine on West Alabama’s community issues. June 21 is a perfect day for YOU to join us for United Way’s Day of Action. Let your actions speak louder than words by joining us for a day of volunteerism in support of United Way’s agencies.

Meet at River Road Park East on Jack Warner Parkway at 9 a.m. on June 21 for your volunteer assignment and help make our community a better place for all of us!
