The Wash, Read, Repeat program is designed to encourage children and families to engage in reading and literacy activities while completing a weekly family chore – laundry. Inside the laundromat, we have created" little laundromat libraries & learning zones" children complete with a small library, cozy seating, and a small table and chairs. In collaboration with the Tuscaloosa Public Library and the University of Alabama, weekly story time sessions are held.
The program launched in January 2022 at Laundry Express and in February 2022 at West End Laundry. The program is made possible by funding from the City of Tuscaloosa, PNC Bank's Grow Up Great Foundation, and UWWA's generous donors, along with the support of the LaundryCares Foundation and area laundromat owners and staff.
