Privacy Notice — UWWA Mobile App

United Way of West Alabama ("UWWA," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to handling information safely, responsibly, and transparently. This Privacy Notice explains how information is handled when you use the official United Way of West Alabama mobile application.

1 Information We Collect

Push Notification Information

If you enable push notifications, UWWA retains the minimum device notification information needed to deliver alerts. This may include a device push token, an app installation identifier, and the notification topics you choose to receive.

Information You Choose to Submit

If you contact UWWA, submit a volunteer interest form, make a donation, register for an event, subscribe to communications, or send a bug report, we may receive the information you provide. This may include your name, email address, phone number, message, and other information included in your submission.

Bug Report Diagnostics

If you choose to submit an in-app bug report, the report may include app version, device model, operating system version, app permission status, notification preferences, backend connection status, and other technical diagnostics needed to investigate the issue. Bug reports are sent only when you choose to submit them.

Donation Information

Donations are processed by third-party payment providers. UWWA does not store payment card information directly in the mobile app.

2 Location, Motion, Weather, and Notifications

Location

The app may request location access to show nearby Donor Reward Card locations, display maps, launch Apple Maps, and send optional reminders when you are near a participating Donor Reward Card business.

Raw location data is used on your device for map display and proximity checks. UWWA does not retain a history of your location in the app backend.

Motion and Fitness

The app may request Motion & Fitness access to improve the timing of Donor Reward Card reminders and reduce alerts while you are driving. Motion status is processed on your device and is not stored as part of a personal profile in the UWWA backend.

Weather

The app may use your device context to show local weather. UWWA does not retain a personal weather history.

Notifications

You may choose which notifications to receive, including community news, newsletters, events, program updates, campaign updates, and Donor Reward Card reminders. You can change these preferences at any time in the app or your device settings.

3 How We Use Information

UWWA may use information to:

  • Deliver the app features and notifications you select.
  • Process donations and provide receipts.
  • Respond to questions, service requests, volunteer interest, and support requests.
  • Share updates about programs, events, campaigns, newsletters, and community opportunities.

4 Sharing and Security

UWWA does not sell, trade, or share personal information for third-party marketing.

We may share information with trusted service providers that support payment processing, email delivery, website hosting, notification delivery, technical support, and app operations. We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect UWWA, our users, or our operations.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.

5 Third-Party Services and Links

The app may link to third-party websites, forms, maps, payment providers, social media platforms, and community resources. These services have their own privacy practices. Review the applicable privacy policy before providing information to a third party.
